Today is the third day of the second month of this year - three days post-Movement Challenge.
Let me tell you about what I did this weekend.
I rehearsed for this Thursday's show on Friday night, did ten minutes or so of conditioning, followed by a truly awesome house party where I made a new best friend: Simran, a man who wore a white labcoat and carried a case full of neat glass apothecary bottles and a menu written in code, designated the "Manhattan Project."
He made me a very delicious, spicy Manhattan. We have a lot in common.
After that, we made it just in time to get down to Gladkill's entire set at Refuge PDX (though we missed Jasmine's horse-themed Chinese New Year striptease - phooey!)
Saturday involved a lot of catching up on sleep, but also ...more sleep. There was a massage in there, too, and about an hour-long walk in the sunshine (solo, as my partner was still asleep).
With all that sleep under our belts, we made it out to Covers and Blankets, an annual benefit for Janus Youth in which one donates a blanket (or jacket, gloves, etc) and sings a cover, either solo or with the help of an amazingly talented band of framily members.
I sang, for the first time, in front of 100+ people. With a live band.
It was incredible. Like, a 100 amazing people JAMMING THE F*** DOWN in front of me, beneath flashing changy-color lights, backup singers, and a hawt effing band of talented MF'rs. Incredible.
Sunday much more sleeping was had, then I got out of bed to discover that not drinking water after a massage really IS a great way to kick your own ass. To make sure I was sufficiently sore, I attended Yoga + Music with Mr. and Mrs. Wu. It was a similarly beautiful meeting of talented and hot framily, with about as much sweating, and definitely less booze.
A nap and a huge snack - and a short superbowl stint - later, it was Oregon Fire Conclave practice with the whole Pod. We've already filmed our first rehearsal video, blocking is spot on and right on time, and I can't wait to light these fans up for the first time...
