One month down!  What's next?

3/31/2015

It's time to look back on this month and cross some things off my list, and add a few more for the coming 30 days...

I have totally accomplished my 24 oz water/day goal!  Weather permitting, I'll have a photoshoot on Saturday!  I'll have a costume ready for it!  I've learned (but still need to perfect) a new choreography!  I've taken 3 hours of dance classes!  I learned a new fan toss (also needs practice)...

Next month: give out 100 business cards, drink 32 oz water/day, don't eat after 11pm... we'll see what else gets added as I perfect those items from last month and cross them off. =)

See you Thursday at Cloud City Circus and Saturday at Down the Rabbit Hole!

See you tonight...or tomorrow...or Sunday...

So, one of the items on my 101 list is "see how long I can go without needing to do laundry."  This is, of course, in exclusion of underwear and work-out clothes.  You see, I have a walk-in closet and an additional clothing rack full of clothes, and around the end of last year our dryer stopped working, so I figured "what the hell, no time like the present."  I have tons and tons of clothes, you guys.  I'm not bragging - if anything, it's a plea to save me from what will surely become the avalanche that kills me (but makes for a hilarious obit).  Out of curiosity, I wondered how many outfits I could make simply out of the clothes I have, without ever wearing anything dirty.

Tonight it all comes to a clothes (get it?!) after 2.75 months as I'll be attending this event: Heartbeat Silent Disco @ SPIN Laundry Lounge  Washers, free dryers (for tonight),
music, movie, snacks, adult beverages... I'm actually SUPER EXCITED to do laundry!

Tomorrow night I'll see you at the Goodfoot for another sweaty installment of Get on Up
(Prince Remixed and Reiamagined) w/ TAKIMBA & DJ Saucy...

...but I won't stay out too late (hahaha OK I will) because Sunday morning I'll be performing at Circus Church.  See you there!

My favorite feeling is "crossing things off the list"

I'm proud to say that I can check "3 dance classes in one month" off the list (it's on there many times) when the help of Datura Online, which allows me to take tons of different classes from the comfort of my home whenever I want, on whatever subject I want.  I've decided to learn a new, challenging choreography that I'll be posting on the interwebs (another goal on the list).  I'm also making headway on a new costume for a new photoshoot at the beginning of April (two more!) and will soon get to cross "24 oz water/day for one month" off too!

See you Sunday at Circus Church!

The proof is in the ....burn marks

I'm not a big fan of crowds, or waiting in line, or being in danger.  However, when you want to play with fire toys you often have to put up with all three.

Last night I asked my partner to be my safety so I could practice some fire spinning at home.  I'd finally gotten home early enough in the evening that it was light out, so I practiced some fan tosses outside where there isn't a ceiling...and I was so excited to be outside I thought I'd take advantage of the nice weather.

Today I'm pleased to announce that I got in a few minutes of practice, about five bruises, and a couple minor burns. And (and here's the really significant part) I have no intention of putting my fans away and giving up. This burning wound on my hand reminds me that I am a dedicated fire spinner....who has some room for improvement. ;)

Last night I also finished choreographing a piece, learned the first section of a new choreography on Datura Online, and finished a pair of shiny harem pants.  I'm just going to leave that info right there.  *beaming*

Last Friday we had a last-minute-notice silent dance party under the blooming cherry blossoms at Waterfront Park, which coincided with a family Hanami celebration... the result was PURE MAGIC!

Come join us for White Out this Saturday!

crossing an item off the list

I can cross off an item from my 101 list: submit entry for the What the Festival 2015 DJ contest!  In fact, I can cross it out twice, because I submitted TWO of them.  And you know what?  I did it using the DJ equipment that I just learned....which was also on the list!

Fingers are crossed that I'll make the final cut...be on the lookout because I'll be needing your vote!

Today is my good DJ friend Kurt's birthday!  It's also the birthday of Portland's hometeam band, March Fourth Marching Band!

In honor of such occasions, it is my delight to announce that Bridgetown Revue will be making a cameo at the Crystal Ballroom tonight to grace the stage with beloved DJ Globalruckus!

My 101 Things challenge 'officially' began last week when I crossed off my first item (learn J's DJ controller... I guess that one was easier than I thought, ha!) but now that March has hit, I'm really digging into the tasks.  I've designed and ordered business cards (next month will be "hand out 100 business cards in a month", I've scheduled this year's Trillium Hunt photoshoot, and I'm...

drinking 24 ounces of water a day.

That's right - decaffeinated, non-alcoholic, non-sugar beverage. If you know me, you know that I live on Spanish Coffee, which are indeed caffeinated, alcoholic, and sugary.  This is a difficult challenge, but at least it isn't one of the other three similar monthly challenges I have tasked myself with for the next 1001 days: drink 32 oz a day, drink 48 oz, and drink 64 oz.  We'll see.
