Friday, January 17: My partner's dad and dad's girlfriend land in Portland. It's my first time meeting anyone in his family. My "month"-long abstinence from alcohol ends today. My 30 days of movement marches on, after dinner with the 'fam', with some fan drills in my little art studio, decompressing and digesting. It was a nice night.
Saturday, January 18: A full day with partner's family, with a little wandering around Portland Points of Interest (namely the Rose Garden). But later...oh later did Joe and I, and many choice friends, enjoy Nickodemus and Zeb (Spy from Cairo). Hooooooooray for ecstatic dance!
Sunday, January 19: No way in hell did I make it to dance church.
However, much brunch was consumed at our home, with the out-of-town-family. It was lovely to have the clean, fully-nested space to share, and it was awesome to be able to drive just down the street to Oregon Fire Conclave practice wherein I nearly froze off my fingertips, and Ruthie and I came up with a perfectly fantastic idea for a sequiny good time show for everyone at Burningman this year.
Then after dinner I came home and ran 20 more minutes of fan spin drills.
Even 20 minutes of practice makes me feel so proud of myself. I know it's not 4 hours, it's not even 40 minutes, but it feels really really good to know I'm putting effort into a goal.
