2014: Year of the Prehensile Tail

1/1/2014

Since waking this morning, I have done exactly this:
  • make a delicious breakfast of eggs, braised veg and squash, crack bacon, and coffee.
  • watch two episodes of Crap Interwebcable Series while the sun set to darkness
  • nap
  • reminisce about an amazing night (thanks to good company and Beloved Events)
  • spin my fans for 30 minutes, because I own this challenge. (No video today, for I still haven't succeeded in fully cleaning off all the makeup from last night.)

Things I Have Learned:
I am very easily discouraged, and very hard on myself.  Within the first four minutes of drilling the voices in my head began a chorus of "seriously, you've had these fans for this long and this is all you've got?  You've been drilling these spins and you are still this bad at it?"  But I kept at it, did the whole 30 minutes, and I was definitely seeing improvement by the end of it.  So there.  I did it.  I win.  2014 and I are homies, and I think this thing is gonna turn out all right.

Happy New Year!

Today I've done something that I've put off for two years: buy a new domain name and Do The Damn Thang.  I let "www.iamasite.com" lapse a while ago, which has given me just enough time to finally sit down and organize everything about me that I'd like to share, put it on the interwebs, and see what happens.

I'm starting this blog separate from Biffed Connections, which is devoted almost purely to the purpose of making fun of folks who post Craiglist Missed Connections.  This blog shall instead document my own life, so that - I suppose - someone can write a blog devoted to making fun of me.

As long as there are readers, I am OK with that.

Beginning January 1st, I shall begin posting updates and videos regarding Bridgetown Revue's  30³ Movement Challenge.  I hope you'll join us in challenging yourself to do what you have been wanting to do anyway - devote 30 minutes a day to any sort of movement practice, whether it's going to a hip hop class, drilling poi tricks, teaching a bellydance lesson, or going salsa dancing. Post a video of your practice (or you telling us about it!) each day to inspire your community and motivate!
